Vocalist, musician and gifted entertainer, Hazzan Dr. Ramón Tasat sings in Hebrew, Spanish, Italian and English, and specializes in Sephardic music. A native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ramón has trained in five different countries. He studied at the Latin American Rabbinical Seminary, the Manuel de Falla Conservatory of Music, the University of Siena, Italy, and the University of Texas at Austin, where he received a doctorate in voice performance.

Ramón has toured Europe with the world-renowned Dr. Robert Shaw and has participated in international festivals on both sides of the Atlantic. He has served as hazzan of Agudas Achim Congregation in Alexandria, Virginia, and as cantor of Temple Shalom in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Ramón is one of the principal arrangers of Norma's compositions and the producer of the Your Bountiful Light CD. He is also co-founder and director of the Bountiful Light Choir. In April 2003, he and Norma introduced Shalshelet: The Foundation For New Jewish Liturgical Music. Ramón is the President of this non-profit Foundation. www.Shalshelet.org

Some of his most notable appearances have been at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C.; the Touro Synagogue; Harvard University; Saint-Céré, France; Siena, Italy; Helsinki, Finland; and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival. In addition to performing on television and radio, Ramón has received numerous awards, including First Place at the Montpelier Cultural Arts Center’s Recital Competition; and a National Endowment for the Arts Grant.

Ramón's most popular CDs are "Fiesta Sefarad," "Libabtini," and "Cantata Ebraica." His two newest CDs are -- "Teshuva" (Music for the High Holidays) and " Como la rosa en la güerta ...Tales from the Spanish Knights" (Ballads from Medieval Spain).
